Q Is it possible to use BackupLoupe with my TimeCapsule?
A Yes, it is! Open your Finder and select your TimeCapsule from the 'shared' section in the side bar. You should see a disk image (.sparsebundle) on that drive. Mount it by double-clicking. Start BackupLoupe…et voilà!
Q BackupLoupe takes forever to scan my backup. What can I do?
A If your backup drive is connected via WiFi, you may want to consider a direct connection (FireWire, USB). This reduces the time it takes to scan your backup. But even so, scanning an average 250GB backup with, say, 50 snapshots will take approx. 1.5 hours.
Q What exactly has changed in a file between version A and version B?
A BackupLoupe requires FileMerge.app, a utility which is part of the Apple Developer Tools, to be installed to answer this question. Once installed proceed as follows:
  • Locate the file in the browser view.
  • Open the history drawer
  • Right-click the revision you want to compare the file to; A popup menu will appear.
  • Select 'Show differences'.

Q I just bought BackupLoupe. But I have not received any confirmation, serial number or shipping details. What's wrong?
A Please read the first paragraph on our shop page.
Q I'd really like to pay for your products, but your PayPal page is german.
A You are experiencing a rare bug of the PayPal site. This is how people worked around this:
  • I got the English PayPal page by clicking on “Kaufabwicklung fortsetzen” on the German page, which took me to a page with a form. I entered USA where it asks for “Land”. This took me to an English page where I entered my username and password to pay. PayPal emailed me that the transaction had taken place. (taken from http://osx.iusethis.com/app/backuploupe)
  • Another user reported that only the login page appeared in german. After logging in the PayPal site was displayed as expected.
